The NFL has suspended Saints running back Alvin Kamara for one game and fined him $25,000 for having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
The league suspended Kamara’s suspension pending appeal of the decision.
The suspension was retroactive to July 1.
The NFL announced the suspension Friday after a report surfaced on social media that Kamara had sex with the girl.
It said the two had sex on the sidelines of the game, but that the player who was involved did not want to comment.
A spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment on the suspension.
The league is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
Kamara, who was selected in the first round of the 2017 draft, was the Saints’ starting running back the past two seasons and was named a Pro Bowl performer in 2016.
The Saints won the Super Bowl last season, Kamara has 1,904 yards rushing, six touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 games.
