Posted October 20, 2018 09:58:59 A dog has been taken into custody after he was shot by police in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to a home on Horsham Street in St Kilda, just after 7:00am after reports of a dog attack.
Witnesses said a female and male dog were fighting and that the dog was shot in the leg.
Witness Michael Hensley said the dog appeared to have been kicked.
“It’s a bit hard to describe what happened, but I can say it was a pretty serious, serious situation,” he said.
“The dog was on the ground and a male dog was running out and they just came out and shot him.”
There was blood everywhere.
“A female dog was taken into the local police station for an assessment.
Police said they did not know the identity of the male dog.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.
